Hi everyone, from the past month I have been receiving tons and tons of request in PMs from people asking if I can help with their lotto machine. So I decided to make a brand new tutorial on lottos/gambling machines. This is gonna be a pretty long tutorial so no complaining in the comments. Let's start.
A lotto/gambling machine is a Redstone setup that either rewards you or ditches you based on your luck (assuming that the lotto isn't built for scamming purpose) and takes some predefined amount of money from your account.
So here are the items that we need to make a lotto machine:
8 blocks (opaque)
1 sticky piston
2 Redstone comparators
2 Redstone dust
1 Redstone repeater
1 Redstone lamp
1 trash item
1 sign (to make a chest shop)
So let's start making the lotto. I’ve made a nice video to make sure you all know how to create lotto.
This is how this system works:
1. The chest at the back of the circuit is called a “trash chest" and is filled with one piece of any trash item just to trigger the piston. You won't be able open the chest once you put an item in it.
2. The chest at the front/below the dropper is known as the "shop chest" and this is the chest where we put the shop sign and is filled with inexpensive items for people to buy.
3. The dropper is the main part of a lotto machine. It decides whether the person playing it will win/lose.
What to fill and how to fill is discussed later in the tutorial.
Lotto Restocking Methods
PROS AND CONS OF EACH METHOD
1. Manual restocking
2. Auto stocking
How to Set Odds of Winning
Ok, so now you know how to restock the lotto so how about I tell you how to decide the odds of winning?
TE is a huge community and people of all age category are here, from kids to teens and adults to old guys. This part would be easy for people above 15 yrs or so or if you have interest in maths. Kids I'll try my best to explain you this. You only need basic knowledge of "Probability and Outcomes". So let's start:
As we all know that a dropper has 9 slots in it to hold the items. A 1/9 chance lotto means that only 1 slot has prize and rest of the slots are filled with trash.
Outcomes= No. of slots that contain prize ÷ Total no. of items in dropper (including prize)
So, if 1 slot contains the prize and 8 slots have trash then winning chances are 1/9.
Here's an outcome table for you.
RULES FOR OWNERS AS WELL AS BUYERS
Questions/ How to's
Ques. How to find if lotto is on auto stock or manual stock?
Ans. Try jumping a bit and see if there's a chest and hopper above dropper.
Yes= auto stock
No = manual stock
Ques. How to find if the lotto is made to scam?
Ans. Pretty simple. You just need to count how much time you bought.
*In manual stock
If you bought it less than 9 times and it says out of stock then someone won prize in the first try/before you.
If you buy 9 times and it still says out of stock then it's surely scamming because you bought all the items but none was the prize.
*In auto stock
If the lotto is on auto stock mode then you may not win even for 25 tries (my personal experience because I test all my lottos before putting them anywhere). You should win in 18 tries but if not then please call staff to check if there's price inside dropper.
If you are reading this then congrats....now you're a lotto expert. Thank you very much for taking out your precious time and reading this tutorial on Lottos.
